The Green Bay Area Public School District is seeking Custodian applicants committed to working a full time evening shift schedule (Monday - Friday, 3:15 p.m. - 11:15 p.m.). This position will be assigned to various facilities throughout the district, providing an opportunity to gain experience for potential future advancement within the District. The purpose of this position is to ensure a safe, clean learning environment for our students and staff throughout the District by performing a variety of custodial tasks.

Essential Functions:

7. Follows written and oral instructions.
8. Communicates to lead workers and supervisors on problems related to work assignments.
9. Performs custodial duties using the methods and procedures set by the school district.
10. Deals tactfully and maintain satisfactory relationships with students, teachers and all other people encountered in the normal course of job duties.
11. Understands normal operation of building systems and reports any abnormality to lead people (boiler/heating problems, rooms too hot/cold, leaking faucet, etc.)
12. Moves furniture, supplies and equipment normally used in the performance of school housekeeping and cleaning duties.
13. Preforms routine custodial work necessary in order to maintain a neat and organized building including, but not limited to the following:
14. Cleans, sweeps, mops, scrubs, and refinishes, tile terrazzo, wood, carpet, and concrete floors and stairways
15. Cleans and polishes filing cabinets, bookshelves, lockers, handrails, furniture and all other office and school room equipment.
16. Polishes brass and other metal work such as door knows, push plates, handrails, name plates, kick plates, etc.
17. Empties waste baskets, trash boxes, and other refuses containers and disposes of the waste
18. Assists in setting up for school and after school activities, both school sponsored or for outside rental groups.
19. Moves chairs, decorations, materials and supplies as directed.
20. Assists in refinishing gym floors and other cleanings and refinishing tasks that are routinely part of the school operations.
21. Performs seasonal work including, but not limited to maintaining lawn and shrubbery and snow removal assignments.
22. Operates lawn mowers, snow removal equipment, and other related motorized grounds care equipment.
23. Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Working Conditions:
1. Work involves disruptions of daily schedule.
2. Work involves frequent deadlines under pressure.
3. Work requires flexibility in adjusting to continuously changing situations.
4. Work entails a flexible daily schedule.
5. Performs a variety of physical tasks that include occasional floor to waist lifting 50#, bilateral carrying 50#, pushing/pulling up to 50# force, lowered work in standing, kneeling and balancing between uneven surfaces.
6. Work involves being unsupervised for long periods.
7. Work involves travel in and outside the district.


Qualifications Required:
Education- High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Qualifications Desired:
Experience- Knowledge and ability to use small hand tools.
