The School Bus Monitor is responsible for assisting bus drivers in providing on-going and emergency support to students while riding, loading, and unloading the school bus to ensure the safety of all passengers. Key responsibilities include: Actively monitors students while on the bus; maintains safety and order on the bus; provides first aid to ill or injured students; Builds positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and the driver Assists with checking students in, loading, and unloading on/off the bus Assists the driver with maintaining cleanliness on the bus which may include light sweeping, removing trash items from the bus interior, and/or wiping down the interior due to emergency situations or health concerns Provides assistance during emergencies, evacuation planning, and drills; provides knowledge and operates emergency window exits Maintains confidentiality. Advises the bus driver and school administration on concerns Required to have prompt, regular attendance Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative
