Our Nutrition Services Department is seeking responsible, dependable and organized professionals to fill the roles of Lead & Assistant Cooks. These positions are responsible for supervising food production, culinary standards, and sanitation while actively participating in the training and development of our District’s Culinary Team. Duties of these positions include batch cooking, catering for special events, preparation of meals, putting together entrees, maintain portion control, testing the temperature of food as directed and ensuring leftover food is stored properly, consistent in executing the appearance/quality of food items per standard. Further duties to include cleaning, maintaining and sanitizing dishes, utensils, cooking equipment, dish room, receive inventory and maintain/organize storage areas while cleaning throughout shift to ensure a sanitary and clean work environment. Attend periodic team meetings and trainings as scheduled. Fill in for department leadership as needed. Other duties as assigned by the Director/Chef of Nutrition Services. The ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a willingness to learn, and be proficient with a wide range of kitchen tools and utensils. These are part-time positions from 20-30 hours per week. Start and end times may change based on position and department needs.
Qualifications:
• Lead/Assistant Cook experience in a K12 environment under the NSLP
• High School Diploma
• Ability to load/unload inventory and food delivery truck (as needed). Able to perform duties as needed in all types of WI weather (rain, snow, ice, wind, etc.)
• Must be able to lift, pull, push, and move heavy carts and boxes (up to 50 pounds) without assist. Must be able to twist, bend, and turn with carts and boxes in hand

• Must follow sanitation and safety guidelines when handling food and equipment
• Ensure hot and cold food items are kept in compliance with department standards and meet all sanitation and safety requirements
Desired Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certificates, Licenses and Training):
• Cooking experience in a K12 setting under the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs
• Experience in a school district setting is highly desirable
• Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification
