Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm
Job Description:
The BRIDGE program at Hawthorn Hills Elementary School is a behavioral support program that provides students and teachers with strategies to communicate more effectively, build stronger relationships and curb inappropriate behaviors. The coordinator of this program is an integral part of the process to de-escalate, communicate and reflect with students as well as teachers to create a positive learning environment for all.
Hawthorn Hills Elementary is seeking a positive leader who can develop this program into a meaningful intervention for students in crisis who have experienced trauma and in need of reflective strategies to build strong relationships to help students become more academically and socially successful.
The BRIDGE program has a dedicated space within the building for students to go to de-escalate and/or take a break from classroom activities. Teachers communicate with the BRIDGE coordinator to identify and send students to the room who are in need of this space. It is the goal of the BRIDGE coordinator to process situations with students, problem solve with them and work with the teacher to create solutions for future classroom success.
Responsibilities:
- Process with and de-escalate students in need
- Provide and develop strategies with students to be more successful in the learning environment
- Work with administration, counseling and student service staff to develop strategic plans of service for students
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers and students
- Positively reinforce high expectations for learning
- When needed supervise students who are on individualized learning plans assigned to the BRIDGE room
- Collect data and report to RtI on a weekly basis
- Create, develop and implement SMART goals surrounding student & program need
- Participate in one of the PBIS PLC Teams (Helping Kids Succeed or PBIS-B) during monthly meetings
Education/Certification:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- DPI Special Education Aide Certification (or a valid Wisconsin teaching license) is required. Application for certification must be made on-line upon hire through the Department of Public Instruction website.

• Must be self-directed and possess strong communication, computer, and technology skills; and have the ability to support student learning in a variety of educational settings .
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents, and the public in a professional and confidential manner.
• Requires individual who can effectively work with curriculum, as a team member, and be flexible to the needs of students and staff
• Requires experience with students with special needs, and strong skills in developmentally appropriate student management
• Requires ability to supervise students in various settings inside and outside
