POSITION TITLE: Full-Time Teacher/Advisor at High Marq Environmental Charter School (Grades 6-12) in Montello POSITION SUMMARY: Advisor will work in a collaborative team with the current Advisor and Field Naturalist / School Assistant to facilitate project-based learning, guided inquiry, workshop mini-lessons, and place-based field experiences in an innovative school environment. QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold or be able to obtain Wisconsin DPI Licensure covering Middle and High School education, with an emphasis in Math (or current Charter School Teacher License) preferred. 1. Experience or knowledge in charter schools, place-based environmental education, project-based learning, and social-emotional learning. 2. Comfort with teaching outdoors in all seasons. 3. Flexibility to work in an evolving classroom environment. 4. Demonstrated expertise in strategies for differentiating classroom instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. 5. Experience teaching Middle School (Grades 6-8) preferred. 6. Certification in AED and First Aid, as well as Lifeguard and Water Safety, preferred. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversee a classroom of 16 students to advise independent project-based learning and support students’ social-emotional needs. 2. Teach seminars and workshop lessons on topics of expertise and/or interest, including Middle School guided inquiry units. 3. Support and co-facilitate weekly outdoor field experiences. 4. Advise student organizations (e.g., Student Congress, Yearbook). 5. Collaborate with other High Marq staff on schoolwide needs, including administrative tasks, purchasing, community relations, state and district mandated assessments, school events, etc. 6. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents. 7. Distribute student medication and perform other duties as assigned.
