Job Title: Middle School Science and Math Teacher Job Description: University Lake School is seeking a talented, effective and dedicated Middle School Science and Math Teacher who will work to ensure success for all of our Middle School students. ULS is seeking a teacher who is passionate about impacting academic achievement and making a difference in the lives of children through high-quality instruction. Classes may include: 7th grade homeroom, 7th grade science, 8th grade science, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1 Expectations include: Understanding the unique developmental, social, and academic needs of the adolescent student. Serving as a mentor to students in the areas of organizational habits, social leadership, and academic excellence. Exhibiting enthusiasm for the topics one teaches and developing lessons, classroom experiences, and assessments that encourage student inquiry and discussion. Possessing an ability to integrate STEAM experiences into the math and science curriculum. Collaborating as a team player with teaching colleagues and administrators. Partnering with parents and guardians, teachers, counselors and administrators; communicating effectively and frequently with them. Marketing the school by a willingness to showcase demonstrations of learning and to communicate with prospective families. Supporting school activities by attending them. Attending staff meetings and serving on committees as required. Committing to ongoing professional development via an annual program of research, workshop attendance, visiting other classes and schools. Learning new skills, such as integrating technology into the classroom, as changing pedagogy dictates. Adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Modeling self-disciplined and ethical behavior.
