Waterford Union High School is seeking a qualified candidate to join the Wolverine Team as the Coordinator of Digital Media. This position reports to the WUHS Director of Communications and will work closely with the superintendents of the Waterford area school districts to tell the story of the students and staff through visual media. The ideal candidate will be a passionate communicator and self-starter with experience in graphic design, videography, and photography. This person understands the importance of digital storytelling to help shape the image of the school districts and their schools, as well as the use of web and social platforms. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a collaborative environment where feedback and suggestions are welcomed and embraced as part of the creative process. This is a 230-day Professional Support Staff position with competitive salary range and benefits. A portfolio of work including graphic design work and videos and/or photography (can be URL links) must be submitted in order to be considered. WUHS is a public high school for grades 9-12 located in western Racine County in the southeast corner of WI, located 10 minutes off Highway I-43 and 35 minutes from downtown Milwaukee. WUHS offers a full range of courses, including dual enrollment and college prep, with fifteen Advanced Placement courses and nine Honors/Advanced courses. WUHS is nationally recognized for its Advanced Placement achievements, Project Lead the Way, and the music program is accredited through the Wisconsin School Music Association. Our students consistently rank academically best across the conference and place above the state and national average for ACT scores. Overall, the graduation rate is 98%, with approximately 75% of graduates pursuing some education after high school. As a member of the Southern Lakes Conference, WUHS also offers more than 50 co-curricular opportunities for its students, including various student clubs and activities and WIAA, sanctioned sports. District boundaries encompass four separate K-8 school districts whose students transition to WUHS. The Town of Waterford was recently ranked as the #2 safest place to live in Wisconsin for 2021. Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Coordinator of Digital Media will manage and work collaboratively with internal and external partners to create diverse and engaging content for staff, students, families, and the community. Description of Duties: __ Tell the story of the school districts (Drought, North Cape, Washington-Caldwell, Waterford Graded School District, and Waterford Union High School) through the development and management of electronic content, especially through video, graphics, web, and social media. __ Conceptualization, production, capturing footage, interviewing internal and external audiences when needed, editing, and video production. __ Write and compose proposals, scripts, and storyboards. __ Contribute new ideas on ways the District can tell its stories with key stakeholder groups. Work with the Director of Communications and the Superintendent to develop a schedule of video content that will be shared for external audiences, internal audiences, and in some cases both audiences. __ Create and post content including videos, photos, and stories for the District’s social media and websites. The district currently uses YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, and Facebook and is open to exploring other social platforms. __ Update content on the District's website. __ Develop high-quality electronic and print newsletters for both parents and staff. __ Develop and facilitate training as needed to assist others on best practices. __ Assist in the creation and maintenance of visual identity standards for the school district and ensure proper application across all mediums. __ Provide graphic, strategic, and creative assistance for graphic development within the school district. __ Other duties as assigned to advance the promotion of the school district.
Qualifications and Skills: __ Associates Degree or higher in multimedia arts, communications, journalism, communications or related field; __ Excellent videography, graphic design, and photography skills; __ Strong knowledge of video cameras, still cameras, video/photo editing software programs and audio recording devices; __ Experience with industry-standard graphic applications including the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat) as well as Google Suite and social media; __ Ability to take a concept and create a finished multimedia product; __ Flexibility with work schedule as some nights may be needed depending on events; __ Ability to meet deadlines with high-quality products; __ Experience with social media and web posting preferred; __ Creative and innovative thinker with a strong work ethic; __ Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; __ Strong general communication skills, both oral and written; __ Self-starter, friendly, and highly motivated; __ A collaborative team member who can take direction and complete projects on time.
