Position Description:

Sauk Prairie Schools Community Education Services is seeking a full time Childcare Program Manager for its Before-School Club (BSC) and After-School Club (ASC). These programs provide childcare for students in grades 4K-5 during the school year and through the summer. The Childcare Program Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and controlling services of the childcare program, exercising judgment and decision-making authority as delegated, including budget, policies, procedures, and staff supervision. In addition, the program manager will have a presence at our after school sites to support staff in the care, growth and development of children.

Essential Functions:

Administrative
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate employees.
  • Ensure staff members have required medication training and knowledge of safety protocols.Manage budget, order supplies, set-up programs for registration, and handle billing and fee collection.
  • with families as needed via phone and email to provide program updates.
  • Maintain accurate records on participants including, attendance, contact and health information.
  • Collect relevant data for the purpose of program evaluation and grant acquisition.
  • Audit and update program guides, manuals and webpage.
  • Communicate program goals and expectations to district leaders, parents and staff.
  • Attend required professional growth in-services, i.e. Blood borne Pathogens, Meds Distribution, CPR and all required in-service workshops.
  • Communicate regularly with the Community Education Director, site supervisors, parents, teachers/counselors/social workers regarding behavioral concerns.
Planning

  • Plan and implement regular staff development opportunities and specific training.
  • Work with businesses to schedule special activities and transportation.
  • Review emergency procedures and information with on-site staff including fire and tornado drill procedures according to school district policy.
  • Provide on-site staff with information regarding medication administration, storage and recording consistent with school district policies.
District Description:

The Sauk Prairie School District includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two “next door” villages known as Sauk Prairie. They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River. Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district. The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes and streams. The district offers small-town, rural living with easy access to the Madison urban area (25 miles) and to the Wisconsin Dells recreation area (28 miles). The district serves almost 2,900 students, and comprises six learning communities with a high school, middle school and four elementary schools.   • CDA, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Prior experience in a manager/leadership role in childcare or educational setting
  • Strong organization and administration skills with the ability to coordinate staffing, develop programming and manage budget.
  • Experience working as a teacher or teaching assistant in a childcare or school environment.
  • Solid communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate via phone and email.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with other staff members, supervisors, administrators and the community.
  • Dependability, flexibility and a commitment to working as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Google for spreadsheet and document creation.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified with the willingness to stay current on certification and other certifications that may be required.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of local, educational and service agents and organizations.
