Full Time
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Assists with daily classroom functions as needed.
  • Works with individual students and/or small groups to reinforce skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Listens to students read and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
  • Assists with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, storytelling, audio-visual presentations, etc.
  • Supervises children to keep them safe during bus arrival/departure, recess, lunch, assemblies, practice drills, field trips, and hallway transition times.
  • Prepares, types, and reproduces instructional materials to be used in the classroom.
  • Maintains classroom activity when the teacher is out of the classroom.
  • Assists with students who are disruptive, helping them to become an improved member of the classroom and protect the learning experience of other students.
  • Corrects designated student work and keep record of their progress following the teacher’s instructions.
  • Keeps bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up to date as directed by the instructional staff.
  • Upholds ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Demonstrates positive adult presence towards parents during the A.M. drop off and P.M. departure, as well as throughout the day (on the playground, in the classroom, on field trips, etc.).
  • May support the IMC on occasion.
  • Administers minor First Aid as needed.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE
  • $16.00 per hour
  • Paid time off including 11 paid time off days and 5 holidays (prorated from start date through June 3, 2027).

WHAT IT TAKES
  • Highly qualified at a Title I schoolwide building (Rothschild Elementary), which requires:
    • An associate (or higher) degree OR 
    • At least 48 post-secondary credits OR
    • Successful completion of paraprofessional assessments, with support from the District.
  • Training in social emotional learning preferred.
  • General technology skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to relate to both students and staff members.
  • Compassionate attitude and strong understanding of child development.
  • Capability to prioritize and work with classroom distractions.
  • Ability to problem solve and use resources to make decisions.
