The Sauk Prairie School District is pleased to announce an extraordinary opportunity for a part-time educational assistant beginning with the 2026-2027 school year at Merrimac Community School.  The hours worked are from 7:30-12:30 each day.  The Sauk Prairie School District is seeking candidates who desire to join a dedicated and committed team of educators and community members focused on improving instruction, learning, and caring for our youngest students. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with students in a play-based classroom, assists with project-based learning activities, has exceptional organizational skills, and compassion toward all students.  
 
Essential Functions: 
  1. To assist the teacher in achieving instructional objectives by working with individual students or small groups.
  2. Support students with bathrooming needs and other self-care.
  3. Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess periods, lunch periods, and dismissal procedures.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

District Description:  
The district includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two “next door” villages known as Sauk Prairie.  They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River.  Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district.  The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes and streams.  The district offers small-town, rural living with easy access to the Madison urban area (25 miles) and to the Wisconsin Dells recreation area (28 miles).  The district serves 2,800 students, and comprises six learning communities with a high school of 850 students, middle school of 600 students and four elementary schools of 1,350 students.

1. High School diploma or equivalent 
2. Obtain emergency medical training and other job related certifications as required 
4. Prefer previous work experience with children 
5. Ability to properly handle confidential matters, emergency situations and work in a positive manner with students, staff and the community 
6. Very good interpersonal communication skills 7. Self-motivated individual who is able to complete tasks on time 
8. General clerical skills and basic computer skills 
9. Able to lift 50 lbs.
