Description:
Performs a variety of non-teaching classroom support and student support services as directed under the supervision of an assigned teacher. The Special Education Aide supports assigned students across various settings, ensuring the successful implementation of their personalized plans. This involves direct collaboration with the child’s special education teacher, delivering direct academic and behavioral support, collaborating with teachers to adapt instruction, collaborating with other Special Education Aides to ensure student safety and meet individual student needs, and monitoring student progress. The Special Education Aide also assists students with daily routines, supports activities in the classroom, at recess, in the lunchroom, provides assistance with mobility and assistive devices, and manages behavioral interventions while adhering to safety and hygiene protocols. 

This position also drives a District vehicle to shuttle students to offsite school related experiences or employment. The Student Services Shuttle Driver is primarily responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from designated stops. This involves conducting pre-trip inspections, operating the vehicle safely, and securing students using wheelchair lifts when necessary. The Shuttle Driver is also responsible for maintaining knowledge of first-aid procedures, performing routine maintenance tasks, reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs, and providing assistance to passengers as needed. This part time, school year position is located at Bay Port High School and works Monday thru Friday, 8:15 am to 2:30 pm. Experience working with students with Autism and/or students with emotional/behavioral concerns is preferred.  The hourly rate while working in the Special Education Aide role is $19.00 with opportunity for increased compensation based on a variety of District and/or State requirements and qualifications. The hourly rate while driving students is $23.54. Start date is September 1, 2026.
