JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Educational Consultant/WiMLSS will work with schools and LEAs to analyze needs and provide direct coaching, consultation, and professional learning related to curriculum, instruction, and systems. Duties include:

 

WiMLSS Coaching & Consultation (60%)

  • Provide regular (at least twice monthly) coaching, as defined by the DPICoaching Competency Practice Profile, to school/district leadership teams to build skills around effective implementation of WiMLSS.
  • Support LEAs in coaching systems for implementing ongoing data-driven continuous improvement processes and individualized action planning for academics and positive behavior interventions.
  • Deliver professional learning on systematic evidence-based universal instruction in reading and math to accelerate achievement for learners with IEPs and learners of color.
  • Facilitate WiMLSS-B Positive Behavioral Implementation and Supports (PBIS) training and regional workshops on building culturally responsive systems and classroom management.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of statewide training, resources, and conferences focused on support for students with IEPs and students of color.

 

General Educational Consultation (40%)

  • Conduct needs assessments and data analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses within urban, suburban, and rural school districts.
  • Develop and recommend evidence-based programs and instructional practices aligned with state standards.
  • Mentor teachers and collaborate with curriculum specialists and instructional coaches to provide comprehensive support to schools.
  • Participate in grant writing, stay informed on legislative issues, and present at educational conferences to support Agency initiatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Wisconsin DPI license as an administrator and/or an educator.
  • Strong leadership and coaching experience (coaching certification/training required/desired) and experience leading WiMLSS work.
  • Successful experience leading data-driven continuous improvement processes and using adult practice and assessment data.
  • Experience developing and delivering professional learning, training, and resources.
  • Experience supporting students who have IEPs and students of color, with knowledge of high leverage, evidence-based practices.
  • Agile, demonstrating a growth mindset by leveraging flexibility, resilience, and change.
  • Highly collaborative, working with others to achieve a common goal in a way that promotes representation and participation by all.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communicator who expresses ideas and information with clarity and respect aligned to an intended audience and purpose.  
  • Thinks critically to analyze multiple perspectives, contexts, and data to creatively question, make connections, and evaluate options leading to reasonable conclusions with on-going reflection for future improvements.
  • Empathetically engages with others to understand and recognize their perspectives, experiences, and emotions.
  • Practices self management to leverage one’s abilities and emotions to direct one’s path as a resilient lifelong learner.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to client schools.
