POSITION SUMMARY
Provide support, instruction, opportunities, and information to students individually and in small groups within an at-risk environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Supports Alternative Education Programs at the High School 
  2. Provide opportunities, information, and instruction to students individually and in small groups
  3. Reviews student progress on a weekly basis for each student on their caseload
  4. Reviews feedback and monitors student success
  5. Communicate with program administrators, teaching staff, parents, and students about program and student progress and behavior
  6. Assist students in accessing resources and completing assignments
  7. Demonstrate, monitor, and encourage positive student behaviors and enforce school rules
  8. Maintain student files and attendance records

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend meetings regarding student progress or program implementation
  2. Grade assignments, maintain student files and attendance records
  3. Perform clerical tasks such as typing, filing, maintaining records, photocopying, etc.
  4. Assume duties of other staff members on an occasional or temporary basis
  5. Perform other duties as assigned which are fairly within the scope of duties normally performed by school aides
  6. Demonstrate, monitor, and encourage positive student behaviors, discipline as necessary and enforce school policies and procedures

Education and Licensure:
  1. Associate (or higher) degree, minimum 48 credits college coursework or equivalent District-approved training/experience

  4. Flexibility in day-to-day scheduling as student needs change

  5. Relate positively with students and demonstrate and monitor appropriate behavior

  6. Communicate effectively and positively with students, family members, district staff, and program administrators

  7. Use computers for instructional programs, basic data entry and word processing, the internet, and other office equipment

  8. Take direction, learn quickly and work closely with the lead teacher, other staff members

  9. Work flexibly on a variety of tasks (may require alternative site)

  10. Demonstrate a Continuous Improvement philosophy through program planning, implementation of services, data reviews and customer service satisfaction

  11. Knowledgeable in conflict resolution and de-escalation

  12. Maintain confidentiality of student information

  13. Commitment to shared responsibility for services designed to improve the lives of children
