Position Overview

The Black Hawk School District is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled 0.5 FTE Band Teacher to lead and develop our instrumental music program. This unique part-time position offers a highly balanced schedule, working 5 out of every 10 school days (95 contract days total).

Contract Term: August 24, 2026 – May 28, 2027 (9.5 Months)

Work Schedule: 0.5 FTE (95 Days Total / Scheduled at 5 days for every 10 school days)

Salary Range: $32,000 – $40,000 (Commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instrumental music and band instruction to middle and high school students.

  • Conduct band rehearsals and direct performances (including seasonal concerts and school events).

Qualifications

  • Certification: Must hold (or be eligible to obtain) a valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in Music (Instrumental Music - Code 1506 or equivalent).

  • Skills: Strong conducting, instrumental instruction, and classroom management skills.

  • Attributes: Excellent communication, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine passion for rural education and student development.
