The Berlin Area School District is searching for a passionate and talented full-time District-Dedicated Substitute Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. A District-Dedicated Substitute Teacher is full-time (172 student contact days) and is benefits-eligible. This position is not specific to a school or grade level and is expected to step into our long-term assignments if needed. Building administrators will work with their team to provide as much support as possible when these transitions occur. If there are no unfilled staffing needs at the three different schools, the District-Dedicated Substitute Teacher will remain in a building for extra coverage. This position requires a great deal of flexibility and a “go-with-the-flow” attitude.
A District-Dedicated Substitute Teacher assists with classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. This person follows and teaches lesson plans, aids students in understanding the subject matter, and ensures that regular classroom routines are followed.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while the regular teacher is absent.
- Review and implement regular teacher’s routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives.
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to district administration.
- Perform other duties as directed by the district administration.
Clay Lamberton Elementary (4K-5), Berlin Middle School (6-8), and Berlin High School sit on the same campus and serve as a hub of activity for the greater Berlin community. The Berlin Area School District is composed of 14 municipalities, with the City of Berlin at the center. Berlin is a rural community with a population of 5,500 located approximately 20 minutes west of Oshkosh and 10 minutes north of Green Lake. The Fox River runs through the center of the historic Victorian downtown. Agriculture, health services, light industry and retail shops comprise Berlin’s economy.
