Maple Grove Charter School is housed in a historic 120-year-old building and offers a unique learning experience that integrates agriculture, environmental stewardship, and hands-on learning while maintaining a strong traditional literacy and math curriculum. With chickens, rabbits, maple syrup production, and an emphasis on outdoor education, Maple Grove is a vibrant learning community grounded in the CRISP traits: Craftsmanship, Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, and Perseverance.

Job Position Statement

Maple Grove Charter School, a K–5 environmental agriscience school within the School District of Athens, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled educator to join our team. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills who thrives in a collaborative and inclusive environment. We are looking for an individual who embraces our school’s mission, fosters strong relationships, and is excited to contribute to our school community through both classroom instruction and active participation in family nights and after-school activities. 


Objectives of this Role

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.

  • Improve student engagement and learning outcomes through effective, differentiated instruction.

  • Serve as an advocate for students and families, maintaining strong relationships built on trust and open communication.


Job Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment that reflects and promotes the mission and values of Maple Grove Charter School and the School District of Athens.

  • Provide explicit instruction aligned with grade-level Wisconsin state standards across content areas.

  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and specialists to plan inclusive and supportive learning experiences.

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families to support student success.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.

  • Use data and assessment tools to monitor student progress and guide instruction.

  • Incorporate technology and outdoor learning opportunities to enhance student engagement.

  • Deliver systematic, explicit, science-based early literacy instruction in both core and intervention settings.

  • Actively participate in school community events such as family nights, school-wide celebrations, and after-school enrichment opportunities.

  • Support and follow School Board policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned



Skills and Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in applicable discipline

  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Teaching License #1777 or #1088

  • Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality and ethical conduct.

  • Preferred training and certification in the science of reading (e.g., LETRS, Orton-Gillingham, etc.

  • Flexible, creative, and organized with a strong sense of humor and a growth mindset.

  • Committed to building positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the broader community.

  • Passion for outdoor education and hands-on learning aligned with the environmental agriscience theme of Maple Grove.
