Job Position Statement

The School District of Athens is in search of a highly skilled and professional educator to join our team.  An ideal candidate would be a proactive problem solver with outstanding communication skills, and contribute to the efficiency of the school district.  This individual would be motivated, and thrive on creating a climate of inclusion, trust, and productivity which represent the school district values.

  • Be an advocate for students and families within your classroom and school. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment that reflects and promotes the mission of the School District of Athens

  • Provides explicit instruction aligned with grade level standards

  • Proven experience using differentiated instruction, scaffolding, and cooperative learning

  • Willingness to teach a broad range of subjects including history, geography, sociology, and economics

  • Plan, develop, and implement social studies curriculum

  • Ability to facilitate discussions on complex social dynamics and historical events

  • Purchase materials, maintain inventory, and prepare materials for students

  • Assess and evaluate student progress, and provide constructive feedback

  • Create a safe and supportive classroom environment that fosters learning and creativity

  • Collaboration and plan with colleagues and peers to develop a positive learning environment for all students

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with parents

  • Ability to use assessments and data in planning and guide instruction

  • Support and follow School Board policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned


Skills and Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in applicable discipline

  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Teaching License #1701

  • Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality

  • Flexible, creative, organized, have a sense of humor, and model a positive growth mindset

  • Value relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members
