JOB TITLE: High School English Teacher
CLASSIFICATION: Professional Staff
JOB OBJECTIVE: The teacher will create a positive learning environment that engages all students in learning through differentiated instruction. The teacher will prioritize social-emotional and academic learning through collaboration and participation in a Professional Learning Community.
REPORTS TO: High School Administrative Team and District Administrator

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Essential Role Responsibilities:

Serve as an English Teacher in support of all learners in an inclusive classroom setting.

Monitor students’ academic and behavioral progress through data collection and analysis to guide instructional decisions.
-
Communicate proactively and effectively with other teachers and administrators.
-
Collaborate and co-teach with colleagues, including special education case managers and student services personnel, in support of an inclusive classroom.
-
Work with special education teachers to provide a range of academic and social-emotional supports, differentiations, and modifications to students in inclusive classroom settings.
-
Establish effective rapport and build strong relationships with students.

Develop positive relationships and engage in open reciprocal communication with staff, students, parents, and families.

Design and implement lessons using the Common Core ELA Standards.

Perform other duties as directed by building administration.

Experience using differentiated instruction, cooperative learning, computer technology, and authentic assessment.

Familiarity with Response to Intervention (RtI) processes, including progress monitoring and data-driven instruction.

Experience working with diverse learners and supporting culturally responsive practices.

Ability to use technology in support of learning and instruction.

Capacity to work collaboratively and productively as an active member of a teaching team.

Experience working with colleagues in collaborative student-centered teams in professional learning communities.

Interest or experience in advising/coaching/co-curricular activities.
