JOB TITLE: Family & Consumer Science Teacher
CLASSIFICATION: Professional Staff
JOB OBJECTIVE: This position requires a dynamic teacher with the ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide students with rigorous and high-quality learning experiences in culinary, food services, and other Family & Consumer Science pathways.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Essential Role Responsibilities:
-
Deliver a comprehensive Family & Consumer Science Education curriculum with a focus on the areas of personal finance, food service, and culinary
-
Serve as a Family and Consumer Science Education Teacher in support of all learners in an inclusive classroom setting.

Monitor students’ academic progress and use data collection and analysis to guide instructional decisions.

Collaborate with colleagues, including special education case managers and student services personnel, to provide a range of academic and social-emotional support to students in inclusive classroom settings.

Develop positive relationships and engage in open reciprocal communication with students and families.

The educator will provide involvement, guidance, and support for family & consumer science education career pathways.

Supervise students at all off-campus activities, such as career days, field trips, etc., associated with the family & consumer science education programs.

Perform other duties as directed by building administration.

Experience teaching using differentiated instruction, cooperative learning, simulations, technology, labs, hands-on learning activities, and authentic assessment.

Experience working in student-centered teams collaboratively with colleagues in professional learning communities.

Interest or experience in advising/coaching/co-curricular activities.

Supervising and maintaining the kitchen and lab areas.

Prepares and maintains a budget and selects and completes requisitions for instructional, lab, and classroom materials.
