The School District of Abbotsford is seeking a passionate and culturally responsive Elementary ESL/ML teacher to provide specialized language instruction and support to our 4K-5 multilingual learners (MLs). The successful candidate will foster an inclusive environment and collaborate with general and special education teachers to ensure all ML students meet high academic standards while developing English proficiency. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and evaluate effective language instruction using recognized methods for students in grades K-5 at varing English proficiency levels. They will be able to administer and interpret language proficiency assessments (e.g., WIDA ACCESS and Screener) to identify eligible students, monitor progress, and guide instruction. They will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, and school administration to support linguistic and cultural diversity within the school community, accommodate learning, and advocate for the needs of ML students, as well as communicate effectively with the families of multilingual learners, often requiring the use of interpreters and culturally appropriate materials, to promote a strong home-school connection.
