The School District of Athens is seeking highly qualified, enthusiastic Summer Learning Teachers to join our team for an engaging and enriching summer program for elementary-aged students. Our program blends innovative indoor instruction with dynamic outdoor learning experiences, creating a well-rounded environment where children can explore, grow, and thrive.
Position Overview
Summer Learning Teachers will design and deliver creative, student-centered lessons that support academic growth while fostering curiosity and a love of learning. Teachers will utilize both classroom and outdoor spaces to provide hands-on, experiential learning opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Plan and implement engaging lessons
- Incorporate outdoor, experiential learning activities into daily instruction
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and adapt instruction to meet diverse needs
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive program experience
- Maintain clear communication with program coordinators and families
Required Qualifications
- Valid teaching license (or in progress) with elementary education or applicable subject area
- Demonstrated experience working with elementary-aged children
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Passion for innovative, hands-on, and outdoor education
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive, flexible attitude
Program Details
- Seasonal summer position: June 8 - 19, 2026 (10 days)
