Position Summary

 

The Antigo School District is seeking applicants for a cross categorical special education teaching position to serve students at the High School, 9th-12th.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a District experiencing growth following the successful passage of a $54 million referendum to build a new elementary school which will open in December of 2026, and a new Central Office- reflecting the community’s strong commitment to public education.

Defined by success. - The Cross Categorical Teacher will report to the Building Administrator and Director of Student Services to advance equitable outcomes and inclusive practices for ALL students, in alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan

 

Essential qualities for this position include:

  • The ability to work with regular education teachers and other pupil service staff within a professional learning community to develop rigorous and relevant learning experiences for all students based on their disability related needs.

  • The desire and ability to advocate for equitable access to classrooms while utilizing curriculum and strategies that are appropriate for diverse learners.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, families and community partners.

  • Co-lead a team of instructional assistants.

  • The ability to provide high quality accommodations and modification for students to access the general content and environment.

  • Understanding of and experience with trauma sensitive practices is highly desired.

  • Understanding of IDEA and Special Education compliance.

  • Ability to collect and use progress monitoring data to advance student success.

  • Ability to write high quality IEPs that align with current IDEA and DPI guidelines.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Experience working with students with diverse needs, including students with mental health, Autism, learning delays, executive functioning deficits and behavioral needs.

  • Knowledge in designing and conducting Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).

  • Knowledge of MLSS systems in both behavior and academic, using data to drive instruction.

  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care and the DPI approved Social Emotional Learning Standards preferred.
