The Berlin Area School District (BASD) is searching for a motivated and reliable Seasonal Groundskeeper. The Groundskeeper is responsible for keeping the facilities and grounds of the BASD clean and safe. Their primary duties include cleaning dirt and debris, removing trash and litter, and carrying out ground maintenance.
 
This position will have the following responsibilities, tasks and duties:
  • Performs outdoor work, including, but not limited to, snow removal, salting areas as needed, leaf pickup, cleaning sporting facilities, and gutter cleaning.
  • Clearing rubbish, weeds, brush, and debris on a school district’s grounds.
  • Watering all flowers and plants on the grounds.
  • Weeding, trimming, and mulching plants using gardening tools.
  • Cleaning the school district’s grounds by removing rubbish and litter daily.
  • Ensuring the grounds are clean, safe, and usable by guests and visitors.
  • Removing dirt on sidewalks, pavements, and driveways.
  • Taking on special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary.
  • Services, repairs, and maintains equipment in the Grounds Department
  • Performs minor to moderate graffiti removal.
  • Operates power equipment, including, but not limited to, forklifts, pressure washers, hand and power tools, snow removal and lawn mowing equipment, and District vehicles.  Training will be provided by the Supervisor..
  • Performs preventative maintenance in and around facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Clay Lamberton Elementary (4K-5), Berlin Middle School (6-8), and Berlin High School (9-12) sit on the same campus and serve as a hub of activity for the greater Berlin community. The Berlin Area School District is composed of 14 municipalities, with the City of Berlin at the center. Berlin is a rural community with a population of 5,500 located approximately 20 minutes west of Oshkosh and 10 minutes north of Green Lake. The Fox River runs through the center of the historic Victorian downtown. Agriculture, health services, light industry and retail shops comprise Berlin’s economy.
 
Salary, benefits, and length of contract: This position is a seasonal position of 20-25 hours per week.  Hours would be 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. or as deemed necessary.  Pay is starting at $15.60 per hour, depending on experience.
