De Soto Area School District is seeking an Elementary Custodian at Stoddard Elementary

Position Functions:

Physical Demands:  Must have the ability to lift 40# independently or more in a team lift.  Must be able to reach, bend, crouch, squat and twist.  Must have the ability to be on your feet for an 8 hour shift.

Special Demands:  Have the ability to work alone or cooperatively with others.  Must be able to resolve problems in a positive manner.  Must be compassionate and maintain confidentiality when dealing with students and staff.  Must be self-motivated to complete tasks on time.  Safeguard students and staff from hazardous materials and areas.

Related Duties:  May be required to assist others with various maintenance and/or custodial tasks as requested.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Empty trash and recycling

• Clean office areas and hallways

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, classrooms, and common areas

• Assume responsibility in the preparation, disassembly and clean-up for special events and athletic contests.

• Work on maintenance and/or cleaning tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Administration

• Responsible to perform summer cleaning tasks ( floor stripping, refinishing, deep cleaning, etc)

• Secure building after normal school hours

• Will need to participate in a rotating weekend/holiday schedule for building checks

• Respond immediately to radio calls; having the ability to prioritize your tasks accordingly

• Ability to operate cleaning equipment in a safe manner

• Ability to communicate effectively with Supervision concerning safety and maintenance needs

• Laundry

• Maintain neat and clean work areas

• Follow safety guidelines

• Attend mandatory training

• Outside duties may include, but are not limited to:  snow removal, mowing, trimming/pulling weeds, washing vehicles, sweeping, emptying trash, picking litter/debris.

• Perform other duties as assigned
