Job Position Statement
The School District of Athens is in search of a highly skilled and professional to join our team. Objectives of this Role

Design, implement, and evaluate a long-range district library media program that supports student achievement, literacy development, information literacy, and digital citizenship for students in 4K through Grade 8.

Collaborate with teachers and administrators to integrate library resources, technology, and research skills into classroom instruction, ensuring alignment with district curriculum standards and educational goals.
Job Responsibilities

Create a learning environment that reflects and promotes the mission of the School District of Athens.

Demonstrate strong technology skills, including instructional technology, digital resources, and learning platforms.

Administers the Common School Fund budget in coordination with the district business office manager.

Develop and monitor annual library budgets, oversee the selection and maintenance of print and digital resources, and ensure equitable access to high-quality materials that meet the diverse needs of students and staff.

Partner with teachers to integrate elements of deeper learning, critical thinking, information literacy, creativity, innovation, and the active use of technology.

Work collaboratively with the middle and high school library paraeducator to ensure consistency in library services, resource management, programming, and student support across all district schools.

Implement and promote digital citizenship education.

Compile and maintain essential records and statistics for library operations, including circulation and inventory.

Develop positive working relationships with classroom teachers and administrators to support instruction and integrate library/media services into the curriculum.

Integrates technology literacy standards into the library media curriculum.

Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.

Provide professional development as deemed appropriate for colleagues.

Knowledge of current library/media trends, resources, and digital learning tools.

Support and follow School Board policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.
