Summary
The JR Dance program is looking for an individual to work with our team to oversee the growth and development of our youth. In addition to coaching practice, coaches assist with choreography and assisting coordinating tournament/exhibition entry for 5-6 local competitions each season (4th of July parade, Kids Fest, HS Games, Christmas Parade, etc.) Experience with dance in the styles of pom and jazz and previous team dance coaching background preferred.

Key Skills and Abilities
● Prior experience coaching or instructing dance.
● Must be able to work cooperatively with other program staff, building support staff, participants, and the general public.
● Ability to interpret rules and regulations, Department protocol, and enforce policy firmly and fairly.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include
· Supervision, instruction, choreography, and lesson planning of youth dance team
· Maintaining a safe work environment for participants, guests, and other staff at all times.
· Interacts effectively with a diverse group of staff and other customers of our service. Learns and uses operating practices of our Department.
· Provides front line customer service and support to staff.
· Confronts inappropriate behavior, documents incidents, and refers policy violators as needed.
· Convey program and equipment needs to the Recreation Supervisor.
· Maintain and submit all required paperwork to the Recreation Supervisor.
· Be prepared to react to an emergency situation.
· Be prepared to react in a severe weather or fire situation.
· Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
Desired Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certificates, Licenses and Training)
· Preferably at least 18 years of age.
· Prior experience instructing and leading dance classes, programs, or teams.
· Preferably possess current First Aid and CPR certifications.
· Must complete staff in-services including Blood Borne Pathogen Training and additional trainings required for the position.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walkn and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment (fine finger dexterity); reach, carry, push and/or pull with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this class. Employees work under typical school building conditions, and the noise level is moderate with varying levels throughout the day. Some tasks are performed in indoor pool areas, outdoor environments, and include travel between program sites. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, but could include the potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements, e.g. heat, humidity, inclement weather.
