Sparta Area School District is searching for a full-time District-Wide School Social Worker to join our team starting in the 2026-2027 school year! We are a proud learning community with a focus on positive relationships and collaboration. The School Social Worker we are looking for will be compassionate and student-centered and will address the social, emotional, and mental health needs that impact student success and well-being. The School Social Worker will collaborate with educators, families, and community partners to remove barriers to learning and foster a safe, supportive school environment. The person in this role will lead and support school safety, violence prevention, and suicide prevention efforts across the district. This is a district-wide role with a focus on prevention, intervention, crisis response and capacity-building across all schools. The position is intended to provide system-level coordination and support, alignment of mental health practices across schools,  and coordination with community agencies. 



Core Responsibilities of the Position:

- Student Mental Health Support and Suicide Prevention

- School Safety and Violence Prevention

- Attendance Intervention and Truancy Prevention

- Family and Community Engagement and Support

- Collaboration and Systems Work

- Training and Consultation


Special Skills Required:
- Experience in a school-based environment
- Familiarity with school-based mental health services
- Training in behavioral threat assessment and management, suicide risk assessment, and crisis response
- Expertise in behavior supports and interventions (FBA’s, BIP’s, de-escalation practices)
- Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across grade levels and schools
- Ability to connect easily with families and students
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
- Strong interest in promoting teamwork and collaboration

Degree/Special Training Required:

Masters

190 day contract + additional days per timesheet

Salary per District Student Services salary grid
