Sparta Area School District is searching for a full-time Special Education Program Support Specialist to join our team starting in the 2026-2027 school year! We are a proud learning community with a focus on positive relationships and collaboration. The Special Education Program Support Specialist we are looking for will support the effective implementation and compliance of all special education programs and services across a 4K-12 public school district. We are seeking a person with a strong background in special education, especially in the area of behavior support, to assist students with disabilities in accessing instruction and developing positive behavioral, social and emotional skills. This position will play a critical role in supporting IEP implementation, functional behavioral assessments, and behavior intervention plans. This role partners with school-based teams, district administrators, students and families to ensure that students with disabilities receive services aligned with the individual Education Program (IEP’s) and in compliance with state and federal regulations following best practices and will strengthen districtwide special education practices.

Special Skills Required:
- Strong understanding of public school special education laws and best practices
-Expertise in behavior supports and interventions (FBA’s, BIP’s, de-escalation practices)
- Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across grade levels and schools
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
- Strong interest in promoting teamwork and collaboration

  1. Degree/Special Training Required: Masters Degree in Special Education, with preference given to candidates with a Director of Special Education license (5080)
  2. Required license Number: Licensure in special education: Cross-Categorical (1801), Emotional Behavioral Disorders (1830), Learning Disabilities (1811), and/or Intellectual Disabilities (1810). 
  3. 190 day contract + additional days per timesheet

    Salary TBD based on the qualifications of the selected candidate
