DESCRIPTION:
The Darlington Community School District is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time position serving students from early childhood (EC) through 8th grade at Darlington Elementary-Middle School. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive speech and language services to students with a wide range of communication needs, including expressive and receptive language delays, articulation and phonological impairments, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) support. The Speech and Language Pathologist will play an essential role within our multidisciplinary teams—delivering direct services, conducting evaluations, participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, and supporting inclusive practices in both general and special education settings.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

knowledge of IDEA and special education law, including the development and implementation of compliant, student-centered IEPs

strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

proficiency in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a range of speech and language disorders, including articulation, language, fluency, voice, and social communication

familiarity with AAC systems and the ability to support the selection, implementation, and use of both low- and high-tech communication tools

experience providing services across multiple grade levels, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and support inclusive practices in general education settings

understanding of Medicaid billing requirements for school-based speech and language services, including accurate documentation and compliance with district and state procedures

ability to participate in Child Find activities, including screening, evaluation, and collaboration to identify students who may be eligible for special education services

strong organizational skills, flexibility, and a commitment to equitable, culturally responsive, and evidence-based practices
