Position Details
The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and overseeing a diverse range of recreation programs and community events. The Recreation Coordinator will support the Greenheck Turner Community Center’s mission to provide inclusive, engaging, and high-quality recreational opportunities that promote community connection.
WHAT YOU’LL DO- Assists in developing, scheduling, and operating recreation and community programs, special events, and community activities.
- Maintains program records, schedules, and participant registration using recreation software.
- Assists with evaluation of programs and implements recommended changes.
- Assists in registering participants, collecting fees, and maintaining accurate attendance and participation records.
- Coordinates logistics including scheduling, facility setup/cleanup, program supplies, registration, staffing, and volunteers.
- Provides supervision and oversight for program operations to ensure quality service and compliance with department standards.
- Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies for recreation and community programs.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with community members, organizations, user groups, and volunteers.
- Provides excellent customer service to participants, families, and community members.
- Collaborates with instructors, coaches, and volunteers to ensure quality program delivery.
- Works with community-based organizations, individuals, and businesses to provide educational and recreational opportunities.
- Responds to the needs and interests of program participants.
- Assists with recruiting, training, and supervising all staff and volunteers associated with recreation and community programming.
- Directs other Greenheck Turner Community Center staff with duties related to recreation and community programming.
- Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Greenheck Turner Community Center.
- Acts as point of contact for staff on duty.
- Assists with the preparation of the recreation and community programming budget.
- Tracks revenue and expenses for all programming.
- Makes recommendations on the purchase of equipment and supplies necessary for program facilitation.
- Attends meetings and trainings as requested by the Director of Community Services, Recreation & Finance Manager, and Recreation Supervisor.
- Assists with other projects and events as needed.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Year-round, full-time.
- Variable schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.
- Standard schedule is 7:30 am – 4:00 pm but will be adjusted based on weeknight and weekend programming staffing needs.
- $24.00 per hour.
- Paid time off including 15 paid time off days, 15 vacation days, and 9 holidays (prorated from start date through June 30, 2026).

This position is funded by the Greenheck Turner Community Center Fund 80.

- Bachelor’s degree in recreation management or related field, one year of experience in recreation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of developing and facilitating a wide variety of recreation and community programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), desktop publishing, and other recreation related computer software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of programs.
