Position Details
7.5 hr/day Middle School Head Cook. Starting immediately.
Duties:
-
Arrive at work, allowing time to wash hands and put on a hairnet to be ready to start shift.

Maintain and keep food service uniform clean.

Responsible for communicating with the Food Service Director any concerns about the department.

Must supervise all areas of Food Service in your school.

To maintain a pleasant work environment, free of gossip and unprofessional actions towards anyone at the school.

Responsible for the preparation of all breakfast and lunch meals and serving them promptly at scheduled meal times.

Maintain a clean and organized kitchen. Making sure all cooks are keeping the kitchen equipment clean and sanitized.

Must be able to give respectful oral instructions to other food service staff or provide a list of tasks, when necessary.

Responsible for charging student and staff accounts during breakfast and lunch. Also responsible for letting the director know when there is an issue with pricing or entering meals into the Skyward system.

Ensures that all food products are prepared to standardized recipes and standardized procedures.

Responsible for proper utilization and storage of all food items.

Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing for all work areas.

Responsible for keeping accurate daily production records according to DPI requirements when asked by Head Cook or Director.

Responsible for taking / recording all food temps, and serving Breakfast or Lunch within the health department guidelines.

Attend all training sessions and complete all online Vector Trainings.

Assist Food Service Director with any catering as requested by other school departments.

Must be able to communicate with staff and students professionally.

Manage ordering, taking inventory and stocking products after deliveries in the storage room, cooler and freezer.

Respect personal privacy and boundaries of other staff and students.

- Must be ServSafe Certified or working towards certification.
- Must follow personal safety and food safety procedures during scheduled shifts.
- Must be a self-motivator and must enjoy working with students.
- Must be willing to help with any food service task when other cooks are absent.
- Must be able to read, write and follow written or oral instructions.
- Must be able to communicate the needs of the department with the Food Service director.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must be able to use weights and measurements.
- Must be able to work scheduled hours on all student school days and training days.
- Must be able to work under pressure, while being professional and pleasant to all.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs for a short period of time and 25 lbs for some extended periods of time during stocking after product delivery and taking inventory.
