Qualifications:
- Wisconsin DPI Certification for School Occupational Therapist (O051)
The School District of West De Pere is looking for a dynamic, highly-motivated candidate with a passion for helping all students be successful. The ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders and engage parents and colleagues through effective communication and by building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff is essential. This candidate will work in tandem with a highly skilled special education team which includes another full-time Occupational Therapist.
The following are essential:
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on working within a team structure in a consultative problem solving process;
- An educational-based approach to occupational therapy;
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Participate in the IEP process, develop and support IEP goals specific to objectives, and apply in-depth knowledge of special education record-keeping, principles, practices, and procedures
- Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment.
- Consults with the school-based team to achieve student outcomes.
- Adapts and modifies the environment including the use of assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
- Provides continuing education and in-services for educational personnel
- Documents occupational therapy services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate.
- Travel to schools as assigned

- Be accountable for commitments, meeting, and schedules and manage time effectively
- Pursue continuous professional improvement
