Core Responsibilities

  1. Build Positive Relationships

    • Treat all students, staff, parents, and others with respect, compassion, and patience.

    • Create meaningful connections with students to support learning and social-emotional growth.

  2. Support Instruction & Science of Reading

    • Assist the teacher with classroom organization and preparation of materials.

    • Provide support in inclusion settings, small groups, or one-on-one.

    • Reinforce previously taught concepts, with a focus on Science of Reading strategies.

  3. Positive Behavior Management

    • Use positive and proactive behavior techniques as directed by the teacher.

    • Supervise time outs, help manage conflicts (including with physically aggressive students), and uphold classroom/school expectations.

    • Motivate and encourage students to do their best, even when they are struggling.

  4. Personal Care & Daily Routines

    • Teach and assist with self-help skills such as feeding, bathrooming, hygiene, and dressing.

    • Encourage students to persevere and build independence in daily routines.

    • Follow classroom schedules and daily lesson plans.

  5. Teamwork & Professional Qualities

    • Communicate openly with teachers and staff members.

    • Collaborate in small and large group settings.

      • Demonstrate flexibility, patience, and a genuine love of working with young children.

      • Perform other duties as assigned (recess, office coverage, health office)

      Additional Comments: Position requires you to be on your feet frequently along with bending, sitting on the floor and moving with young children.  Lifting up to 30 pounds occasionally

      Work Schedule of the Position: Monday-Friday, School Year Only, 8:15am-12:15pm(summer work could be available through summer school opportunities)
