Position Overview:

The Unified School District of Antigo is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Special Education Instructional Assistant to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the educational, behavioral, and social needs of students with disabilities across a variety of school settings. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with special education teachers, general education staff, and support personnel to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional, behavioral, and social support to students with disabilities under the direction of licensed special education staff.

  • Assist students in classroom participation, organization, and task completion.

  • Support students with personal care needs as required, which may include toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance.

  • Supervise students during non-instructional times (recess, lunch, transitions, etc.).

  • Monitor and record student progress and behavior.

  • Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) accommodations and behavior intervention plans.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with federal and state regulations.

  • Attend professional development and training sessions as required.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must already have or be willing to obtain a Special Education Program Aide License from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive educational environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities.

  • Associate degree or completion of post-secondary coursework in education, child development, or a related field.

  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
