Full Time

Duties of the Position: Develop and implement lessons that reflect the district Essential Learning Standards while integrating age and developmentally appropriate practices for elementary students through the Montessori approach to education. 


Special Skills/Education Required: Must be certified or eligible to be certified by the Wisconsin DPI to teach children in grades 4, 5, and 6.  Must be willing to teach in a multi-age environment using the Montessori principles of education with fidelity.  Must be trained or willing to be trained at the Upper Elementary level in Montessori.  Must be child-centered and able to work cooperatively with staff.


Additional Comments:  Special consideration given to persons trained through an American Montessori Society approved training site. Prefer knowledge of/experience with Responsive Classroom, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), Response to Intervention (RtI), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and/or Restorative Practices. This person will also play an essential role in the promotion and continued development of Sparta Montessori School, which is a public charter school within the Sparta Area School District.


Eligible License Types: Must be certified or eligible to be certified by the Wisconsin DPI to teach 4th, 5th, and 6th grade children through one or more of the following pathways: 

WI Elementary License

WI PK-12 License

WI Montessori License

Work Schedule of the Position: 7:30-3:30, School year calendar
