Position Title:  Educational Paraprofessional-Elementary
 
Job Goal:
Assist teacher in the delivery of the curriculum, lesson plans, and implementation of goals and objectives to promote student achievement.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.  
  • Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
  • Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate communication, social and emotional regulation skills.
  • Supervise study halls, lunchroom, and bus loading/unloading as needed.
  • Tutor-specific students in subject areas as determined by the teacher.
  • Provides support to the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment. 
  • Aid the teacher, when requested, in communication between home and school.
  • Perform all classroom instructional tasks as assigned
  • Recess & lunch duties as assigned.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
 
The employee has frequent contact with students and members of the community. While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to engage in conversations and is required to utilize communication skills, such as speaking and listening.  The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk at regular intervals throughout the workday.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  Essential functions require a high level of concentration and attention to detail.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent education
2. Eligibility to obtain a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Certificate as a Special Education Aide
