Duties of the Position:  Duties include, but are not limited to: 

Assist teachers with subject area projects and activities.

Assist with the supervision and training of students in the development of life skills and performance of daily activities.

Assist small groups of students or individuals with the completion of projects/work

Provide personal care and hygiene (diapering, toileting, and bathing). 

Implementation of behavioral management strategies. 

Assist with lunch duty/playground/MAPELS/transitioning students

Use of augmentative and assistive communication and technology support. 

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds

Work as part of a team to meet the needs of the students in all areas. 

Demonstrate initiative  

Maintain confidentiality. 

Be flexible and able to adapt to several learning environment/different teaching styles

Be an advocate for students with special needs. 

Assist special education students in the regular education classrooms.

Kind and caring demeanor toward students, families, and peers
Strong work ethic and commitment to doing what’s best for students

Belief in a positive, inclusive educational system where all students can succeed
Patience and calm approach in all interactions

Effective communication skills with both children and adults
Understanding of early childhood development
Behavior management and redirection strategies
Teamwork and collaboration with staff and specialists
Flexibility, creativity, and empathy in adapting to individual student needs

Degree/Special Training Required: any additional training that would be necessary to ensure student success
