The Library Media Specialist provides leadership for PK‑12 library services and instructional technology, develops flexible learner‑centred spaces, and nurtures students’ love of reading and digital literacy. (Candidates interested in a Part-time position are encouraged to apply.)  In this small district, you’ll have the opportunity to make a visible impact while working closely with staff, students and community partners. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan & develop programs: Establish a realistic PK‑12 library/technology plan with goals, timelines and budgets; update policies on materials selection, copyright, interlibrary loan and internet safety; and ensure accessibility and equitable access to resources.
  • Lead instructional technology & teaching: Keep up with cost‑effective tools (print, e‑books, basic digital resources); coordinate device deployment (Chromebooks, MacBooks, iPads) and support; deliver library and digital‑literacy instruction to K–6 students; and provide training to staff on research skills, information evaluation, ethical use and cybersecurity.
  • Manage operations & resources: Oversee circulation and inventory of print and digital materials, textbooks and teacher editions; maintain makerspaces and flexible areas within our means; administer budgets, monitor funds and secure grants/donations to stretch resources.
  • Communicate & engage: Act as liaison between library staff, administrators, board members and the community; advocate for library services at meetings; maintain newsletters and social‑media updates; and build partnerships with families, local libraries, higher‑education institutions and nonprofits, including participation in digital‑equity initiatives.
  • Model professionalism: Demonstrate ethical conduct, intellectual curiosity and respect for diversity; comply with district policies; and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  •  Required: Wisconsin certification for Instructional Library Media Specialist (1902) or Library Media Supervisor (91)
  • Preferred: Instructional Technology Specialist (903) certification or equivalent; evidence of training in digital literacy, media literacy and emerging educational technologies such as AI and XR.
