Full Time
The Port Washington-Saukville School District is seeking a dynamic and compassionate School Psychologist to join our high school team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, demonstrating a proactive approach to supporting student well-being. An understanding of best practices in special education is essential, as is a willingness to collaborate closely with high school staff, providing coaching and guidance to ensure comprehensive support for students facing trauma and other mental health challenges. This role requires a dedicated professional committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.
Job Duties:
Consultation and Collaboration:
- Consult regarding special education evaluations
- Consult and collaborate with a diverse population, including school personnel, families, community organizations, and other school-building teams
- Consult with staff providing interventions
- Serve as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative for IEP meetings
- Consult and coach staff on best practices for classroom behavior
Interventions and Instructional Support:
- Conduct and lead special education evaluations
- Psychologists collect and use data at every level to make informed instructional decisions.
- Support implementation of effective RtI, PBIS, and special education systems
- Support the implementation of best practices in special education.
Interventions and Mental Health Services to Develop Social and Life Skills:
- Conduct small groups for social skills and mental health needs
- Provide 1:1 social skills and mental health consultation
- Refer families to appropriate community-based services
- Serve on building-wide Tier I Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support team (Internal Coach)
- Participate in agenda-focused team meetings
- Observe, assess, and collaborate with students and staff to establish effective student-specific FBAs and BIPs
- Implement, consult, and coach staff regarding regular education behavioral interventions
- Implement, consult, and coach staff regarding Tier II behavioral intervention-Check in Check out
School-Wide Practices to Promote Learning:
- Attend and provide professional development to staff related to school-wide systems.
- Train staff regarding computer-based assessments and data management systems
- Conduct training for progress monitoring and screening
- Evaluate interventions at Tier I, II, and III for efficacy
- Consult with staff regarding best practices for instructional strategies
- Lead, facilitate, and participate in building and district-level committees
- Conduct data analysis and management
- Serve as the building’s Internal Coach for PBIS
- Coordinate meetings regarding IEPs, Solutions Team, Parent collaboration, PBIS, RtI, and other related initiatives.
- Organize and facilitate data meetings.
- Provide reinforcement and follow-up support regarding data-based decision making
- Participate and collaborate in the development of a district-wide assessment calendar
- Consult, participate, and collaborate regarding the building intervention block
- Assist with choosing intervention and progress monitoring tools
- Facilitate groups as needed
Preventive and Responsive Services:
- Participate in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
- Act as a team member of the building crisis team
- De-escalate students
- Intervene when a student becomes a danger to themselves or others
- Debrief with staff, families, and students after significant incidents occur
- Conduct Suicide Prevention training (Middle and High School Psychologists)
- Participate in District-Wide Crisis Intervention
Family–School Collaboration Services:
- Collaborate with families regarding student needs
- Make appropriate referrals to community-based providers
- Communicate with family and agencies regarding students' needs, parent concerns, and progress
- Collaborate with other district student services staff regarding families and students
- Provide information to families regarding district-wide systems such as PBIS, RtI, and state assessments
- Conduct and promote parent training and district informational meetings
