Position Description: 
The Sauk Prairie School District is seeking a full-time Administrative and Health Assistant to support the building operations at the Merrimac Community School.
The Elementary School Office Assistant is the welcoming face of our school and a vital support to students, families, and staff. This position is responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations of the front office by managing a variety of clerical, organizational, and student-focused responsibilities. The ideal candidate is friendly, efficient, adaptable, and able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a fast-paced school environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Welcome and assist all visitors, students and staff whether in-person, on phone or via email in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.
  2. Maintain accurate student attendance records and track transportation changes while update stakeholders in a timely manner
  3. Collect, document, and secure funds for deposit per Business Office guidelines
  4. Enter and update student data and reports to meet reporting requirements and deadlines
  5. Provide basic health support, including first aid and medication administration; communicate with parents as needed
  6. Assist with distributing newsletters, notices, and other school communications
  7. Manage student records, enrollment paperwork, and cumulative files
  8. Assist with planning and coordination of school events, picture day, and field trips
  9. Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures
  10. Assist in the management and preparation of the school budget as well as requisition entry
  11. Assist with the supervision and/or accountability of students during emergencies/drills
  12. Complete data entry and reports for student records as needed in order to meet various building, district, state, and federal reporting requirements and timelines.
  13. Obtain emergency and other job related certifications as required
  14. Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient office operations
 
District Description:  
The district includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two “next door” villages known as Sauk Prairie.  They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River.  Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district.  The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes and streams.  The district offers small-town, rural living with easy access to the Madison urban area (25 miles) and to the Wisconsin Dells recreation area (28 miles).  The district serves 2,800 students, and comprises six learning communities with a high school of 850 students, middle school of 600 students and four elementary schools of 1,350 students. 
 
 
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary or administrative training preferred
  2. Advanced secretarial and clerical skills, including basic bookkeeping skills
  3. Experience in a school or customer service setting strongly preferred
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  5. Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and make decisions within the scope of the role
  6. Proficiency with office software (e.g., Google Suite, Skyward or similar); willingness to learn school-specific systems
  7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
  8. Able to handle confidential matters and emergency situations professionally
  9. Friendly, dependable, and team-oriented
  10. Knowledge and ability to use office equipment
  11. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
