Description:
Ripon Area School District is accepting applications for a full-time Elementary School Counselor for the 2025-26 school year. The school counselor demonstrates a thorough understanding of the comprehensive school counseling program. The school counselor assists students in our early elementary schools as an advocate for the development of the whole child. They will provide direct counseling services that support the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of the students while bringing a collaborative, solutions-oriented attitude to our team. The School Counselor collaborates with members of the District Pupil Services Team. Applications accepted until filled.
Essential Job Functions

Develop and maintain a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program

Communicate the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to education stakeholders
-
Maintain current and appropriate resources for education stakeholders
-
Use the majority of time providing direct services through the Guidance Curriculum, Individual Student Planning and Preventive and Responsive Services, and most remaining time in program management, system support, and accountability

Implement developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group and classroom activities to meet student needs and school goals

Incorporates into their programs the life skills that students need to be successful in the twenty-first century

Assist all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans

Accurately and appropriately interpret and utilize student data
-
Provides individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs
-
Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs
-
Assist teachers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student data
-
Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills
-
Uses available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program
-
Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession
-
Periodically review school counseling program to review extent of program implementation and effectiveness
-
Collect and analyzes data to guide program direction and emphasis
-
Monitor student academic performance, behavior, and social/ emotional wellness
-
Facilitate the transition of students between building levels (2nd to 3rd)
-
Facilitate the transition of students new to the district
-
Participate in district student screening efforts
-
Participate in building and district level crisis response and recovery teams to develop and implement action plans
-
Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) evaluations and meetings as requested
-
Case manage all 504 Plans
-
Participate in parent-teacher conferences as requested
-
Participate in Student Support Teams (SST) and the Response to Intervention (RtI) process to develop and implement academic and behavioral action plans for identified students

Coordinate the provision of the Protective Behaviors instruction

Coordinate annual Bully Awareness education and activities

Coordinate implementation of universal Social Emotional LEarning (SEL) instructional programs

Assist in the development of class lists and student placements

Conduct student interviews and appropriate follow-up in cases of self-harm and suspected abuse/ neglect

Manage the process of obtaining permission to release information to outside health and service providers; collection, logging, and sending of student records and information

Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Pupil Services and Building Principal
