Full Time
The Northland Pines School District is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher to serve students in 5th or 6th grade at Eagle River Elementary School. This Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher will implement evidence-based strategies to support students with disabilities in accessing, engaging, and progressing in their general education program, with a focus on progress toward grade-level academic standards and functional expectations throughout the school day. This role involves close collaboration with general educators, related service providers, and families to ensure individualized supports are effectively designed and delivered, maximizing student success in inclusive settings.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong collaborative skills, with experience working closely with general education teachers, related service providers (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists), and families to support student success.
  • Experience supporting students with a wide range of disability-related needs, including those related to autism, emotional-behavioral regulation, and specific learning disabilities.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development 
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in alignment with Wisconsin’s 5-Step IEP process that support students' academic and functional needs
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to general education teachers and paraprofessionals on the effective implementation of accommodations and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) that align with each student’s unique disability-related needs."
  • Provide Specially Designed Instruction and support in inclusive, small-group, and individualized settings using evidence-based strategies to build academic and functional skills.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure alignment of instructional practices and meaningful progress toward IEP goals and grade-level standards.
  • Implementation of inclusive practices, including co-teaching, collaborative planning, Responsive Classroom practices, and universal design for learning (UDL).
  • Use data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and adjust interventions.
  • Implement positive behavior interventions and supports to foster self-regulation and address challenging behaviors.
