Grant Writer / Communication Support
12 month position
As a result of continued progress in community and district partnerships, Burlington Area School District is seeking an experienced individual to join the district team. This is a vital role that will help BASD explore new funding opportunities and offset costs through strategic grant dollars. An integral part of our community outreach and support, the person in this role will be responsible for grant writing to support district and civic initiatives, along with assisting the district with communication, including managing the district website and related social media.

Job Summary
This position is a full-time, district level role, focused in two areas:
Grant Writing responsibilities include;

Serving as key contact for grant opportunities within the district and Burlington communities

Identifying, researching, defining and developing funding sources to support existing and planned program activities

Leading the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies

Managing grant schedules and tracking grants
-
Coordination and follow-up on the progress of submitted proposals, including organization of a master file on pending grants and updates to regulations, etc. as needed.

Coordination with the Business Office or similar with community organizations to create expenditure and income budgets to accompany proposals.
Communication Support responsibilities will include;

Managing and enhancing platforms such as the district website, Parent Square, and addressing other communication needs as they arise.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred,
-
3-5 years of successful grant writing experience, preferably with an education and/or civic focus,
-
A proven track record of securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify opportunities for academic and civic programs,

Knowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria and funding cycles,
-
Previous federal grant application, submission, approval and management of funds.

Excellent writing and verbal skills,

Be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes,

Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data,

Excellent Computer skills (Google Office suite, Email, Excel/Google Sheets, etc.), and database management skills,

Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

The ability to sit for extended periods.

Able to sustain repetitive motions (keyboarding, data entry), walking short distances, and operate standard office equipment.
