The School District of Janesville is hiring for a Skyward School Business Specialist (8.0 hrs per day) with the Business Services Department at the Educational Services Center for the School District of Janesville. This position has responsibility for all functions within Skyward School Business Suite relating to configuration, system maintenance, daily technology support, and process flows.
This position participates in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).
Insurance benefits are available with this position.
Essential Job Functions:
● Possesses a working knowledge of Skyward School Business Suite
● Provides leadership related to project planning and implementation of components with the Skyward School Business Suite, including but not limited to Asset Management, Employee Portal, Financial Management, Human Resources, Payroll and TruTime
● Develops a work plan and assist with Skyward configuration, providing direction and coaching to other department staff and task management of the implementation process
● Undertakes interdisciplinary process improvement initiatives, maximizing the efficiency of integrated modules within, and in conjunction the Skyward platform
● Assist in providing a variety of data report to respond as needed to public information request the District may receive, annual required reports from outside agencies such as the Department of Public Instruction
● Collaboratively works with other District departments
● Other duties as required to meet the needs of the District
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in business or related field, preferred
● Three years of progressively responsible experience in an educational or public administration setting
● Direct experience with Skyward School Business Suite
● An enterprise wide understanding of the inter-relatedness of Skyward modules
● Experience with or knowledge of educational institutions (preferred)
● Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a positive attitude; assertive and outgoing with a confident personality
● Ability to learn and use system technology
● Ability to initiate, prioritize and implement responsibilities without direction
● Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of District, school, and student information
● Ability to work independently, make sound judgments, organize, plan and balance multiple priorities
● Ability to work effectively, collaboratively and positively with staff, administrators, parents and the public
● Ability to use a positive, caring, supportive approach while working with a variety of people
● Ability to establish and maintain exemplary relationships by using appropriate interpersonal skills

Essential Physical/Mental Requirements:
● Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day
● Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to ten pounds without assistance in an indoor setting
● Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance
● Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building
● Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.
● Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone
● Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
● Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy
