The School District of Manawa is seeking a 1.0 FTE (anticipated) Special Education teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Certification in Cross-Categorical Special Education (1801) or a combination of the following: Learning Disabilities (1811), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (1830), Intellectual Disabilities (1810).

The School District of Manawa is seeking an energetic, team-oriented, student-centered special education teacher to serve as a special education teacher at Manawa Elementary School within a progressive team. This educator is responsible for teaching students using a variety of methods in small groups or individually. Good organization skills are important as this educator schedules students and paraprofessionals and plans field trips and work experience. Previous experience is desired. Other duties of this position will be to create daily lesson plans, write IEPs, hold annual and interim IEP meetings, and attend staff and departmental meetings.

The School District of Manawa is a progressive small, rural district dedicated to students choosing to excel and realizing their strengths. The district serves about 700 students in four-year-old kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district operates two school buildings. Manawa Elementary School at 800 Beech Street houses grades 4K to fifth and Manawa Middle School/Little Wolf High School located at 515 Fourth Street serves students in grades six to twelve.

The School District of Manawa is committed to staying on the cutting edge in education for our youth. Staff are encouraged to pilot innovative practices with the approval and support of the Board of Education. In the coming year, the SDM is focusing on four major academic initiatives moving forward to include adopting and implementing new 4K-12 math materials, pursuing rigorous literacy goals (4K-2 phonics, 4K-5 interactive read alouds, and 6-12 content literacy), updating 6-12 social studies instructional design and resources, and consistently implementing the 4K-12 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards. Students in grades 4K-2 have touchscreen devices while students in grades 3-12 have Chromebooks to ensure access to contemporary learning resources both at school and at home.

School District of Manawa Educators are expected to:

• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.
