JOB TITLE: Educational Systems Specialist (12 month, full-time)
Reports to: Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation
Location: OASD Technology Office/Oconomowoc High School

Summary:
The Educational Systems Specialist is a key member of the technology team at Oconomowoc Area School District, dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation and optimal user experience across our educational digital platforms. This role primarily focuses on the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of digital learning environments, encompassing roster management, learning management systems, and other digital educational tools. The position is the lead for our single sign-on (SSO) environment and will collaborate closely with technology and instructional staff to understand evolving learning needs and implement the effective integration of digital tools. This position also provides essential support for basic tasks related to our student information systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following (other duties may be assigned):
Digital Learning Environment Management

Serve as the primary support and administrator for key educational platforms, including:

Canvas, Seesaw, and Google Classroom (Learning Management Systems)
-
ClassLink (including rostering and single sign-on)
-
Destiny (Library Management System)
-
All other digital learning systems and subscriptions.

Manage the full lifecycle of these systems, including setup, configuration, ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and user account management.

In collaboration with the Network Engineer and Student Information Specialist, address access issues involving data discrepancies or integration challenges, ensuring accuracy and troubleshooting data flows from the Roster Server and OneSync into various systems, maintaining data integrity.

Support general student information system maintenance, reporting, and troubleshooting, particularly where it impacts digital learning data. This includes partnering with the Student Information System Specialist to ensure tight alignment and efficient use of all integrated systems.
Collaboration & Support

Provide timely and effective technical support to staff, students, and parents for all assigned educational platforms.

Collaborate extensively with all department members, department leaders (e.g., Curriculum & Instruction, Assessment, Student Services), and school staff to ensure seamless system integration and effective utilization.

Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation and technical resources.

Create materials, FAQs, and information for the Help Desk to effectively assist users with access and common issues related to digital learning systems.

Make data-informed recommendations for system improvements and efficiencies.

Provide timely and courteous technical support to parents, staff, and students via email and phone, addressing issues related to devices and access to educational systems.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical Proficiency and aptitude.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to1 various audiences. Proven ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.

Organizational & Time Management Skills: Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks, including balancing one-time projects with ongoing responsibilities while handling interruptions. Ability to anticipate administrative needs and proactively address them.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience in supporting educational technology systems in a K-12 environment.

Demonstrated expertise in the administration and support of:

Single Sign-On (SSO) platforms (e.g., ClassLink).

Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Google Classroom, Seesaw).

Google Workspace/G-Suite for Education (including administrative console).

Rostering solutions (e.g., ClassLink Roster Server, OneSync).

Student Information Systems (basic support and integration understanding).
-
Library Management Systems (e.g., Destiny).
-
Certifications in relevant educational technologies (e.g., Google Certified Administrator, Canvas Certified Educator/Admin, ClassLink Certified Admin) and/or other industry certifications.

Proficiency in SQL.

Experience with API concepts, including understanding, testing, and troubleshooting system integrations.
