Nestled in the Northwoods, the School District of Rhinelander is seeking candidates for a 1.0 FTE Counselor position at the middle school level beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
As a District we are focused on Student Growth and Success, Operational Stewardship, High Performing Teams and Engagement. Our District is actively working towards target based grading and we continue to invest in the development and execution of professional learning communities (PLCs). We offer a competitive salary and benefits package including up to $20,000 towards your continuing education (i.e. graduate degree, additional licensure etc).
Our systems provide staff with various curricular resources and trainings (i.e. Restorative Practices, NVCI) so to be successful in their roles. In addition staff are supported by our team of Instructional Coaches, Mentors, Interventionists and Specialists. Our Mission is Equity, Empowerment, Excellence for All! #TheHodagWay
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. An earned master's degree in school counseling with an emphasis at the middle school level.
2. A valid guidance and counseling certificate issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
3. Demonstrated ability to work with the educational staff, parents, and students; demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication; ability to organize and deliver a developmental guidance and counseling program built on knowledge of adolescent development, theories of counseling, group dynamics, educational testing and measurement, and career development.
4. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• The Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model
• Knowledge of Restorative Practices
• SEL initiatives and the Mental Health Framework
• The use of data to assist in closing the achievement gap
• Organizing, scheduling and overseeing state achievement testing
• Creative approaches for every student to be more successful
• Scheduling Processes
• Be knowledgeable of Xello, WICareerPathways, or other similar web based tools for academic/career exploration and planning.
• Be able to lead 6-8 staff in ACP efforts with students and families.
• Be able to prepare 6-8 curriculum plan for successful implementation of Academic Career Plans for all students.
• Be able to lead professional development related to counseling 6-8 staff.
Note: Yearly professional employee contract that may include several additional days or flexibility in work days. Salary commensurate with experience and licensure.
