Description: The South Shore School District seeks a dynamic, student-centered MS/HS Reading & ELA teacher to join our team! The ideal candidate will be licensed as a reading specialist or have the willingness to obtain this license. The person we seek is an experienced teacher with leadership skills, bringing innovation and growth to ELA experiences for students at South Shore. This teacher will share passion and knowledge teaching classes including: 

• Middle School Reading 

• High School Reading

• Intensive Intervention Support for 7-12 students with reading needs

• ELA courses to be determined

Candidate Profile:     To be considered, candidates must contribute to a positive and welcoming culture of professionalism. The successful candidate is a person who brings teamwork and FUN to the curriculum and our team!  Candidates must integrate knowledge of the WI ELA Standards and adolescent development to ensure high levels of learning and strong relationships with students.  Candidates must also be committed to working collaboratively with colleagues to support students with college & career readiness. You will be a great fit for our team if you love working with middle and high school students and are able to motivate and engage them as learners. 

Licensure and Other Requirements:

• A champion for students with passion for teaching and learning

• Valid teaching license in English Language Arts

• Reading Specialist license preferred

• Ability to assess student skills, provide constructive feedback, and track progress toward mastering competencies.

• Highly effective communication, teamwork, listening, and interpersonal skills.

About Us: The South Shore School District is a small, rural district in Port Wing, WI near the beautiful shores of Lake Superior. We are a 4K-12 building with about 210 students districtwide. South Shore has a very supportive community, small class sizes, and dedicated staff who love what they do!
