Reading/Math Elementary Teacher Position Summary
The Reading/Math Elementary Teacher is responsible for instructing ability-grouped reading, math and spelling classes.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Instructing small break out groups of reading, math, and spelling with enthusiasm and fidelity to the Direct Instruction curriculum. Direct Instruction training will be provided before and during the school year

Working with a variety of students in age (Kdg-5th Grade) and ability.

Clearly and consistently communicating and upholding school rules, values, and expectations in and out of the classroom

Maintaining consistent communications with families regarding student progress from reading, math, and spelling groups
-
Setting a caring, respectful, and positive tone in the classroom

Displaying extraordinary time management to maximize student learning
-
Building relationships with students that communicate the importance of academic and social success at school
-
Taking on responsibilities outside of their content area instruction such as Core Virtue presentations, lunch and recess duty, and various school committees

Using a multitude of instructional strategies, especially Direct Instruction, that are academically rigorous and highly engaging
-
Taking responsibility for student progress; constantly working to respond to students’ needs
Teacher Competencies and Qualifications
The successful candidate will also have:

Bachelor degree in Elementary/Middle Education.

Ability to maintain positive relationships with young children, school staff, and parents
-
An understanding of Direct Instruction (Training Available) and Saxon Math.

Strong classroom management abilities

A strong belief that all students can learn and succeed in the classroom

A do-whatever-it takes attitude
-
An exceptional ability to respond well to feedback and implement it immediately
General Information
This position is for the 2025-2026 school year and the successful candidate will start in August.
