Position Title and Location: Montessori Teacher, E1-Lower Elementary (grades 1, 2, and 3)

Duties of the Position: Develop and implement lessons that reflect the district Essential Learning Standards while integrating age and developmentally appropriate practices for elementary students through the Montessori approach to education. 

Special Skills/Education Required: Must be certified or eligible to be certified by the Wisconsin DPI to teach children in grades 1, 2, and 3.  Must be willing to teach in a multi-age environment using the Montessori principles of education with fidelity.  Must be trained or willing to be trained at the Lower Elementary level in Montessori.  Must be child-centered and able to work cooperatively with staff.

Additional Comments:  Special consideration given to persons trained through an American Montessori Society approved training site. Prefer knowledge of/experience with Responsive Classroom, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), Response to Intervention (RtI), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)and/or Restorative Practices. This person will also play an essential role in the promotion and continued development of Sparta Montessori School, which is a public charter school within the Sparta Area School District.

Eligible License Types: Must be certified or eligible to be certified by the Wisconsin DPI to teach pre-kindergarten and kindergarten aged children through one or more of the following pathways: 

70 Early Childhood (EC) PK-3,

71 Early Childhood-Middle Childhood (EC-MC) PK-6

74 Early Childhood-Adolescence (EC-A) PK-12

19 Charter School Instructional Staff Permit

WI Montessori License
